Mud Bugs definition of a mud bug: see crayfish
Crayfish:1. Any of various freshwater crustaceans of the genera Cambarus and Astacus, resembling a lobster but considerably smaller. Also called mudbug; also called regionally crawdad

Yes, a crawdad is called a mud bug here in southern Arkansas. These little crawdads arn't found just in ponds and streams here. They also live in the ground because of how much rain we get. And, when it rains they dig their way to the surface leaving this

and not just in a few places but the whole yard, leaving a muddy mess and destroying the plush grass that we still have

I suppose we get our revenge at the next crawdad boil.
